Ultra-gaming PC manufacturer Falcon Northwest brings you the FragBook DRX, a machine that attempts, with considerable success, to pack all the features of a high-end gaming desktop into the chassis of a laptop. The results are unprecedented. Somewhere inside this massive machine, Falcon has hidden three (!) 200GB hard drives, a top-of-the-line Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU, 4 gigs of RAM, and dual video cards: Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT running on an SLI platform. Performance is, as expected, ridiculously fast: you could even say extreme. However, it’s 20 percent faster than any other laptop I’ve tested in business applications, at 161 frames per second in Quake 4, just short of breaking records in our graphics tests. Just don’t expect to haul the DRX on your next trip to LAX: at 12.1 pounds it’s a buster, with 61 minutes of battery life. If the weight doesn’t kill you, the cost might: $7,700 will get you this monster, complete with a shiny metallic paint job in the color of your choice. We’re guessing there’s probably gold mixed into that paint to justify the price.
