Olympic boxer Danny Green partners with Cyber Wardens to promote cybersecurity
“Sweet science” analogies emerge as boxing legend and businessman confront cybersecurity threats.
World boxing champion Danny Green took to the ring with Australia’s Cyber Wardens program to promote the importance of cyber security in a rapidly changing threat environment.
Green is co-founder of boxing and fitness brand UBX, which has gyms in Australia and New Zealand, and is rolling out the Cyber Wardens program across his business, as well as leading a new promotional campaign for the programme.
Green said he wants to use his reach as an Olympic athlete and businessman to educate other small business owners about the importance of creating and managing safe online environments.
“In boxing, being one step ahead of your opponent is crucial,” Green said in a statement.
“The same applies to protecting your business and your customers. “I am proud to be part of this initiative to help small businesses stay safe in the digital world.”
Green added that by using the business practices outlined by Cyber Wardens, it was confident it could protect its customers, franchisees and IT infrastructure.
Tim West, co-founder and CEO of UBX, agreed that cybersecurity is a critical part of modern businesses.
“The Cyber Wardens program is a great initiative for small business owners like UBX franchisees,” West said.
“It provides them with a simple, easy-to-understand resource to better protect their businesses in an increasingly digital world. By integrating this cybersecurity training into their operations, our franchisees not only protect themselves from cyber threats, but also ensure the privacy and trust of our members.”
Luke Achterstraat, chief executive of the Council of Small Business Organizations of Australia, which runs Cyber Wardens with support from the federal government, said he was delighted to have West and Green on board.
“Danny and UBX’s commitment to cybersecurity sets a powerful example for small businesses around the world,” said Achterstraat.
