Griffin GuitarConnect Pro channels digital signal to iPad

Griffin GuitarConnect Pro channels digital signal to iPad

Running an analog The signal from your guitar to your iPad is fine, but the accompanying crackles and pops are not. Griffin’s new GuitarConnect Pro solves this problem by placing an analog-to-digital converter in the widget and piping the result directly to the dock connector.

So you can connect your guitar directly to any Core Audio app, from virtual guitar pedals to Apple’s own handiwork, GarageBand.

The little device has a standard quarter-inch guitar cable connector and a short output cable with the familiar 30-pin connector on the end. On the side of the unit is a manual gain control knob to adjust the input.

If you’ve never tried connecting your guitar to GarageBand, you should give it a try. I connected an acoustic guitar using an EBB microphone and the iPad camera connection kit and it was great.

The $80 GuitarConnect works with both iPads and the iPhone 4/4S. It is available now.
