Canberra Cyber Hub hires Dr Vicki Gardiner as chief operating officer
The former director of the Canberra branch of the Australian Computer Society signs up for a cybersecurity charity.
Not-for-profit Canberra Cyber Hub today (September 3) announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer, Dr Vicki Gardiner.
Gardiner joined the organization effective today after a period as ACS Canberra branch manager.
According to Canberra Cyber Hub, the new hire is a “powerful” appointment.
“We are delighted to welcome Vicki to the role,” Dr Michael Frater, president of the Canberra Cyber Hub, said in a statement.
“His extensive experience in workforce development and commitment to diversity will be invaluable as we continue to build Canberra’s position as a leader in the cyber industry.”
Prior to working at the ACS, Gardiner wrote the Tasmanian Women in Engineering Strategy and recently spearheaded a project supporting women into ICT roles. She was also recognized for her work by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and has held a number of senior management and management positions.
“I am excited by the opportunity to help build Canberra’s reputation as a center of excellence in cyber security,” Mr Gardiner said.
“What excites me most is the opportunity to improve cyber capability in a way that elevates the community at large.”
The Canberra Cyber Hub is funded by the ACT Government and works to promote careers in the industry, as well as cyber security research and education.
