Almost half of UK voters would choose an AI over Rishi Sunak
As votes are counted in the UK general election, artificial intelligence appears to be a better choice to lead the country for many Britons.
As the UK waits to see not so much who its next prime minister will be, but what percentage of landslide victories Labor will receive, many voters have said they would prefer to have artificial intelligence (AI) in charge rather than Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives.
Pollsters from generative AI engineering company AIPRM spoke to 2,000 voters across the UK and presented them with a choice between two anonymous party manifestos. One was the Conservative Party’s set of election promises, while the second was generated by ChatGPT.
Surprisingly – or perhaps not, given the absolute drubbing the Conservatives are likely to take – most people preferred the AI manifesto, with the rest choosing the Conservative Party’s promises or simply not sure which to choose.
Across the country, 49 per cent of voters chose AI over Sunak’s promises, with the 35-44 and 16-24 age groups even more optimistic about AI, with 53 and 52 percent chose ChatGPT-generated campaign promises. above that of the Conservative Party.
Only 23 per cent chose the Conservative Party manifesto, and everyone else could not choose between the two.
“The survey raises profound questions about the future of political leadership and the role AI could play in shaping policy and public trust,” Christoph C Cemper of the AIPRM said in a statement. “Since respondents don’t know that the manifesto they preferred was generated by AI, it signifies a shift in the way people evaluate political platforms, favoring content and ideas over the source or personality behind them.”
“The fact that only 23 per cent of people preferred Rishi Sunak’s Conservative manifesto to the one generated by AI, without knowing it was produced by AI, suggests growing discontent with traditional political rhetoric. It shows that voters are looking for new, data-driven solutions that can more effectively respond to their concerns and aspirations.
“As AI becomes more integrated into political processes, it will be essential to ensure these technologies are used responsibly and ethically, maintaining the human element that is vital for genuine engagement.”
